Here are some resources, collected and explained by Iksvaku prabhu, from Christian web sites that explain, support, and also criticize the G12-approach.

To begin with, see this non-partisan overview of the G12-movement presented by Wikipedia.

Supporting the G12 - Movement

  • visiong12.com/eng/g12vision/ This is the 'official website'. It portrays vividly the 'mood' in which the G12 is approaching the congregations. You can scroll and find an interesting guide all the way down to the bottom of how to become a member and pay your monthly fees.
  • www.revivaltimes.org/index.php/215.htm This is a similarly favourable page. It provides statements form G12 'founder' Cesar Castellanos and several other pastors. Obviously all tailored for the marketing of their model.

Critical of G12

  • Here we find the 'Concerns about the G12 Movement by Joel Comiskey'. Kaunteya prabhu's comment:

    I found Comiskey's points interesting. First of all because of their being candid, second because they are relevant to our situation too.

    I like very much his emphasis on principles, rather than particular ready-made formulas.

    One thing I also find interesting (and troubling) is this (indirect) concept of (in the words of Ralph Neighbour): "building a multilevel marketing structure that peaks in the authority of a special Global Apostle with his hand-picked assistants."

    Yes, this is a question worth discussing: in the G 12 approach the one who starts the first group would automatically be and remain the patriarch, the "boss" for the whole extended congregation?

  • Another page that attacks so called deviating cults in Christianity. Worth having a look to balance the 'hype' from the previous ones. It deals with the sastric validity of the movement and the materialised marketing approach. Also provides some angles from the alleged divisions amongst the ranks of the Cell Church and some close associates of Castellanos.
  • www.intotruth.org - For those of us who have some interest in analysing other congregational models this page 'CROSS + WORD' provides some insight into the world of Christianity and its latest development in different forms and shapes. This is supposedly a scriptural research site that provides articles with lots of references trying to make sense to their often (biased?) critical points. It is also set to discredit movements such as G12, but takes it on it from the root, providing a detailedd account of their beginnings... of what they label as the 'Transforming Church'. It is certainly a good read since it gives historical, sociological and psychological angles of such 'Global' Church movements.
    • The articles-page gives you a list of articles, etc.,
    • and this one addresses specifically the Cell movement, skinning it out;
    • This page gives a blue-print of their main 'principles' and what ISKCON cant take or reject. It also provides links to other related pages and articles.

Srila Prabhupada:

"There is no doubt about it that Srila Bhaktivinode Thakura is eternal energy of Lord Sri Krishna Caitanya Mahaprabhu. And whatever he did, was just to suit the time, place, circumstances, and etc. There is no contradiction in his activities."
